Accidents happen and when they do you want to make sure that you have someone who understands the laws and will make sure you get compensated fairly.

Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcycle riders have a high potential for suffering injuries in accidents. As many injuries are severe and catastrophic, compensation becomes a necessity. Driving a car tends to be a necessary chore, but for many people riding a motorcycle isn’t just about going from Point A to Point B. Rather, it’s a matter of wind-whipped fun.Unfortunately, claims filed by riders are aggressively contested by insurance companies, making legal representation vital to obtain full and fair compensation.

Motorcyclists and pedestrians have rights too!  Unfortunately, statistics indicate that many people on bikes have met horrible fates on roads due to the negligence, recklessness or carelessness of others. Beyond many thousands of motorcycle injuries, motorcycle crash deaths are rising in the United States, while overall traffic deaths are declining. Negligent driving by others causes great harm to many motorcycle drivers. If a high speed car or SUV crashes into a motorcycle, it has the potential to take the lives of those riding on the motorcycle. Besides negligent or drunk drivers, motorcycle riders also must be wary of defective roads, which can cause many accidents. Roads built with very sharp or tight turns are risky for motorcyclists. Also dangerous are roads without proper signs regarding speed breakers or other dangers ahead, including potholes. A pothole may not be a big enough obstacle to menace a car or SUV, but the rider might be thrown off of his or her vehicle in such a case.

Car Accidents

Car accidents are one of the most common causes of injury and preventable death in the United States. Even as advances in technology have made motor vehicles safer than they have ever been, far too many people suffer serious physical trauma in car accidents in the United States every day because of the careless actions of drivers, automobile manufacturers, and in some cases, municipalities. In many cases, the injuries resulting from these accidents leave victims with costly medical bills and lost income from time spent away from work recovering, consequences that injury victims may not be able to afford.

Fortunately, it may be possible to recover compensation for car accident injuries by pursuing legal action against the person or party responsible for the accident. If you have suffered injuries or other losses in a car accident in Houston, Attorney J. Hayden knows the effects this can have on your life, and he is committed to representing car accident victims as they pursue justice and the financial compensation they need.

Our Car Accident Practice Areas

Car accidents happen for a variety of reasons, some of which are purely accidental. However, there are far too many circumstances in which a car accident could have been avoided if proper care was exercised. In these cases, it may be possible to receive compensation for any losses resulting from the accident, including for cases involving:

  • Drunk driving
  • Vehicle defects
  • Roadway defects
  • Speeding
  • Aggressive driving

These and other common causes of car accidents cannot and should not be considered acceptable, and it is important for accident victims to take legal action against those responsible for the unnecessary and preventable pain and suffering they have been forced to endure.

Maritime Injuries and Death

People who are injured on the job while working on maritime vessels or offshore oil rigs have special protections under the law, thanks to the “Jones Act”. Besides regulating maritime commerce in the United States, the Jones Act provides protections and compensation for seamen and others who work in U.S. territorial waters.

Injured seamen have the legal right to pursue just and fair financial compensation for harm they have suffered due to negligence on the part of a vessel\’s captain, crew or owner, or due to a vessel\’s unseaworthiness.

This can include faulty equipment, an unsafe working environment and improper safety procedures on board the vessel.

Compensation may include, but is not be limited to, medical expenses, lost present and future wages, and what’s known as maintenance and cure. This refers both to a daily allowance in lieu of wages (maintenance) and to funds to offset ongoing medical treatments (cure).

Vessels covered by the Jones Act include fishing boats, water taxis, shrimp boats, ferries, riverboats, tugboats, trawlers, tankers, barges and offshore oil rigs. Workers injured while being transported to and from offshore oil rig also may be covered by the Jones Act.

Dangerous Drugs/Medical Devices

Life altering side effects from defective drugs and medical devices have harmed many people. . In fact, thousands of Americans annually have been injured or even killed by defective drugs. If you have suffered damages from a recalled drug, antidepressant, prescription medication, over-the-counter drug, herbal supplement, or vitamin, then you may be able to recover compensation.

These drugs are manufactured and marketed by massive pharmaceutical companies which make billions of dollars in profits. The financial bottom line clouds the responsibility of these pharmaceutical giants to fully research the safety or dangers of their products and at least provide proper warnings or discontinue use of the specific drug.

You do not have to battle these pharmaceutical giants alone. You may be legally entitled to substantial financial recovery for your injury losses. This can include medical expenses, lost wages, and your pain and suffering as a result of the injury
